Getting an account:
Server accounts are issued to students actively enrolled in digital media classes. Your account will remain valid for the duration of the course. Your instructor should distribute and collect the Computer Accounts Request Form on the first day of the course if you are expected to utilize the servers in the course. It may take up to two working weeks for your account to become active.
If you lost your form, or did not receive one, it is available here. Fill out the form and bring it into the Department of Digital Media for processing.
All users must abide by the Use of Information Technology and Resources rule while using these resources.
Account Username:
Accounts Issued Spring 2008:
Username is your NID issued to you from the University.
Accounts Issued Prior to Spring 2008
Username is the first initial of your first name followed by your full last name, i.e. Robert Jones would have a username of rjones. (Too many exceptions needed to be made by this convention, therefore for simplicity this convention was abandoned for the common NID in Spring 2008)
VPN Usage is MANDATORY from off campus:
Regardless of your operating system, if you are attempting to connect outside the firewall, you MUST use the UCF Virtual Private Network (VPN). Security procedures require all users to VPN into the network prior to server SSH or sFTP access.
Information on connecting via VPN is available here: http://www.noc.ucf.edu
Sulley does not support telnet or clear text FTP. Instead, use SSH and Secure FTP (sFTP):
Windows Clients:
PuTTY - for ssh, shell access, changing your password, etc. (Installation & usage tutorial)
WinSCP - to copy files securely to Sulley (Installation & usage tutorial)Mac OS X Clients:
Terminal, use the ssh command for shell access, changing your password, etc.
Fugu - to copy files securely to Sulley
